The Russian military’s Yug Group of Forces had used the advanced T-14 Armata main battle tank in combat, a source in the Russian defense industry told TASS on July 19.
“Members of Yug [group] actively used Armata in combat. Several vehicles participated in combat to see how the tank would perform. After that, they were withdrawn from the frontline,” the source said.
Another source told the Russian news agency that the tank has already entered service with units of the Southern Military District. “The necessary trials of the T-14 tank still continue,” the source added.
The T-14, which was developed by the Uralvagonzavod defense manufacturer, is Russia’s most advanced tank. It was unveiled to the public for the first time at Red Square’s Victory Day Parade on 9 May 2015.
The main feature of the tank is its unmanned turret. The tank’s crew of three is seated in an armored capsule in the front of the hull. This substantially improves the crew’s survivability in combat.
The the 2A82-1M 125 mm smoothbore cannon, the main armament of the T-14, can fire highly-effective Vacuum-1 armor-piercing rounds, controlled-detonation Teknik high explosive shells and anti-tank guided missiles like the the 9M119M1 Invar-M.
The T-14 is powered by a ChTZ 12N360 diesel engine with a displacement of 34.6 liters delivering up to 1,500 hp. The engine’s theoretical maximum power, which is not normally used, is 2,000 hp. The tank has a 12-speed automatic gearbox, with a top speed of 80–90 kilometers per hour.
Another key feature of the Armata tank is the advanced Afganit active protection system, which includes hard and soft kill measures.
The T-14 is also equipped with a day/night capabel targeting system, in addition to an active electronically scanned array radar.
It is believed that at least dozens of T-14 tanks are currently in service with the Russian military. Testing the tanks in the special military operation zone will help further refine the design before mass production. The tank’s capabilities, especially its high survivability, will be also of great help to Russian troops.
given the sophistication and potential performance of this design, it might well prove to be a bargain if the assumed per unit cost is approximately $4mil. south koreas latest design runs $8.5mil, turkeys about $13mil apiece. article does not mention the kord 12.7 heavy machine gun with remote reloading. t-14 appears to be a sprinter, light weight in it’s class, high horsepower and max speed.
leos weren’t a game changer. armata will be one. nazis got cope
404 is done and gone. this thing is epochal and will end at washington dc.
good news: russians advanced 3 km to kupyansk. only 4 km remain. bad news: ukronazi despite tremendous casualties take klescheevka west highs. just what pma predicted 2 weeks ago. so, our respectable virtual academy reach an astonishing 95% predicament accuracy.
popov was correctly dismissed last week but he was right in only 2 issues. for security reasons we do not disclosure what. russians have the possibility to return the tide by frying ukroshits en-masse just like in pyathikhaty zapo situation.
but that scenario of back-forth and viceversa will be a standard. as a result of a very poor russian management of that war by practically a political gang of which primary goals are not to win the war decisively and fast but to stay in power for the sake of the backing oligarchs. pma will not expect any new mobilization till some other big defeat will be inflicted to russians which will cannot be reversed.
as pma said, in some areas russians are outmatched by at least 12:1 in manpower. south artemovsk is one of that location. per total the ukronazi slaves are 5:1, having under arms over 2 million bandera cockroaches taken directly from ukropizdan streets.
pma say also that russia made same mistakes as union in the first stages of american civil war and hitler in first stages of ww2. only after they wake up they could defeat theirs enemies. union waked up just the right moment, but for the later was too late.
lastly, do not forget, sugi pula jenny, please ! and collect what it will hop from.
breaking news: russians counterattacked and retake the heights but with serious casualties. ukroshit nazi had much more but for them cannon fodder is not a problem. tomorrow a next batch of suicide platoons will be sent again. russia can’t afford that tactic without proper decisions.
to ensure a fair evaluation of this new weapon system, the participants of the opposing force were also sought for survey. ouija boards have so far proved ineffective. representatives of the eastern orthodox denomination were pessimistic about the prospects of such inquiries.
this tank bankrupted russian tank industry .. accomplished what nazis and americans didnt .. what a failed pointless project .. the same gun as t90 while impossible to miss at 3 meter height
that’s why there are so many videos of them burning in minefields surrounded with corpses.
remind me, how much does the us spend on defence? isn’t it around $730 billion, per year and rising? compare to the $48 billion that russia spends of defence, which was decreasing. what does the us get for $730 billion. less n. warheads than russia. no hypersonics in working order. obsolete air defence systems, but, a lot of comedy for the world. how many tanks does russia have? compared to the us?
if you have obviously asolute no idea of what you are talking about, than stfu! the turret is larger and higher than former russian/soviet types because it will get the 152mm maingun in future, but the whole tank is still not higher or larger than a m1a3 abrams or leo2a7. bankrupted? lol a armata costs only some 5 million usd, because payments in ruble, while a latest m1a3 costs some 10 million usd and a leo2a7 insane 15 million pcs.
we want gundam!
