On August 2, the head of the Future Syria’s Party (FSP) in the city of al-Tabqah, Muthanna Abdul Karim, announced that the party will open offices in southwestern governorate of al-Suwayda and in the district of Duma, east of the city of Damascus, in the upcoming days.
“The party will open new branches in southern Syria in the few upcoming days, specifically in the cities of al-Suwayda and Duma,” the Kurdish Hawar News Agency (ANHA) quoted Abdul Karim as saying during a meeting with locals in al-Tabqah.
The FSP, which was founded in late March, is a part of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), which is the political wing of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Earlier this month, Ilham Ehmed, a Co-Leader of the SDC, told the Kurdish Rudaw TV that the SDC will open offices in the Syria governorates of Hama, Homs, Lattakia and in the Syrian capital of Damascus. Back then, Ehmed said that such a step is a part of the ongoing efforts to reach a “democratic” solution for the crisis in Syria.
This step was likely agreed upon during the SDC-Damascus talks, which was held on July 26. If the FSP’s effort appears to be successful, it could be expected that other SDF-linked organizations make similar steps thus boosting relations and improving ties between the sides.
