South Of Ukraine Expects Military Shocks - First Interview Of Russian Top Commander Amid Appeal From Regional Governor

Illustrative image

Russian Army General Sergey Surovikin, who has recently become the Commander of the Russian Military Operation, gave an interview to the Russian media speaking on the current state of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.

Surovikin’s speech deserves the closest attention.

First, the Russian four-star general has shown his ability and clear intention to communicate with Russian citizens directly, honestly and without morbid hurrah-patriotism. His appeal is radically different from what the world has heard from the Russian Ministry of Defense from the beginning of  this conflict.

Second, Russian Commander made several landmark statements that allow us to put flesh on how the Ukrainian conflict would develop in in the weeks ahead. Surovikin confirmed that Russia still believes that it is at the war with the criminal neocolonial regime of “Zelensky” , which de-facto is no more than the US-NATO occupation authorities . Surovikin declared that the task of the Russian Army is to liberate the fraternal Ukrainian people (Ukrainians, not Galicians). Further, he honestly described the situation on the fronts as very tense. In the second part of his interview, he made it clear that in case of military necessity and in order to save the lives of Russian soldiers and local civilians, he would undertake any necessary measures and means in accordance with the operational and tactical situation on the front. This means that the Russian command expects and is ready for any development of the situation, up to and including tactical retreat and heavy urban fighting.

Third, the next acute phase of the conflict, that is, a massive offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Krivoy Rog-Mykolaiv direction should be expected in the upcoming days.

Good afternoon Sergey Vladimirovich! By the decision of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, you have been appointed commander of joint forces in the area of a special military operation. Many Russian citizens are concerned about the question of what is the situation today?

In general, the situation in the zone of the special military operation can be described as tense.

The enemy does not give up on trying to attack the positions of Russian troops. First of all, this concerns the Kupyansk, Krasnolimansky and Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog directions. Our enemy is a criminal regime that pushes the citizens of Ukraine to death. We are one people with Ukrainians and we wish that Ukraine is a state independent from the West and NATO, friendly to Russia.

The Ukrainian regime is trying to break through our defenses. To do this, the AFU are pulling up all available reserves to the front lines. These are mainly forces of the territorial defense who have not completed a full course of training.

In fact, the Ukrainian leadership is condemning them to destruction. As a rule, such units have low morale. To prevent their fleeing from the front line, the Kiev’s criminal regime uses nationalist units that shoot everyone who tries to leave the battlefield.

Every day the enemy’s losses amount to hundreds of people killed and wounded.

We have a different strategy. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief has already spoken about this. We do not strive for high rates of advancement, we take care of every soldier and methodically “grind” the advancing enemy. This not only minimizes our losses, but also significantly reduces the number of civilian casualties.

Currently, the Joint Group of Troops is taking measures to increase the fighting strength of formations and military units, create additional reserves, equip defensive lines and positions along the entire line of contact.

Strikes with precision weapons against military and infrastructure facilities affecting the combat capability of Ukrainian troops continue.

Sergey Vladimirovich, in addition to the fact that you have been appointed commander of joint forces in the special operation zone, you remain Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces. How would you characterize the effectiveness of Russian aviation and air defense forces?

The special military operation has confirmed the effectiveness of the aviation complexes and air defense systems we have in service.

During the operation, the crews of tactical, army and long-range aviation carried out more than 34 thousand sorties. They have used more than seven thousand guided aircraft weapons. The newest hypersonic aviation missiles Kinzhal (Dagger) have proven themselves well in hitting targets. None of the enemy’s air defense systems could intercept this missile. Strategic air-launched cruise missiles also showed the highest accuracy.

In terms of the quality of combat use, I would especially like to mention the Su-57 multifunctional fifth-generation aircraft. Having a wide range of weapons in service, it solves the multifaceted tasks of defeating air and ground targets in each sortie.

More than 8 thousand sorties have been carried out by unmanned aircraft, and more than 600 objects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been destroyed by strike drones.

A few days ago, the acting governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, announced that the authorities decided to provide residents of the region with the possibility to go to other regions of the Russian Federation for recreation or study. First of all, this concerns the right bank of the Dnieper River. The head of the region said that these measures were taken to ensure the safety of citizens amid the increased shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. How can you comment on this decision?

A difficult situation has developed in this direction. The enemy purposefully strikes at infrastructure facilities and residential buildings in Kherson. The Antonovsky Bridge and the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station were damaged by HIMARS missiles, traffic there was stopped.

As a result, the delivery of food is difficult in the city, there are certain problems with water and electricity supply. All this significantly complicates the life of citizens, but also creates a direct threat to their lives.

The NATO leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has long demanded offensive operations on the Kherson direction from the Kiev regime, regardless of any victims – both in the Armed Forces themselves and among the civilian population.

We have data on the possibility of the Kiev regime using prohibited methods of war in the area of the city of Kherson, on the preparation by Kiev of a massive missile strike on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam, the infliction of a massive rocket and artillery strikes on the city indiscriminately.

These actions can lead to the destruction of the infrastructure of a large industrial center and civilian casualties.

In these conditions, our top priority is to preserve the lives and health of civilians. Therefore, first of all, the Russian army will ensure the safe, already announced departure of the population according to the resettlement program being prepared by the Russian Government.

Our further plans and actions regarding the city of Kherson itself will depend on the current military-tactical situation. I repeat, it is already very difficult today.

In any case, as I have already said, we will proceed from the need to preserve the lives of civilians and our military personnel as much as possible.

We will act consciously, in a timely manner, not excluding the adoption of difficult decisions.

General Surovikin’s interview followed the address of the Head of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo to the local residents.

Interestingly, the text of the video appeal of the head of the Kherson region differs from the text that was published as a “transcript” of the video in Russian media. We believe that the words spoken in this video appeal accurately and more vividly reflect the situation, so we publish the verbatim transcript of the video appeal.

In his appeal, the head of the Kherson region demonstrates a clear understanding of the situation. He does not want the residents of his region to repeat the fate of the residents of Donetsk, which has been under shelling for almost nine years, or the residents of Mariupol, who were shot by soldiers of the Kiev regime while trying to evacuate.

Dear Countrymen!

You all know that Kiev regime has declared an all-out war on Russia and is now accumulating huge forces in the Nikolaevsk and Krivoy Rog directions. For its part, the Russian army is also accumulating forces to counter the advance of the AFU.

We all know how heavily and terribly the inhabitants of Donbass endure daily shelling. This situation, which is now being created, also threatens us, the residents of the Kherson region.

Therefore, under these conditions, the only correct decision was made, the one that  can reduce the risks for civilians. I am announcing the relocation, voluntary relocation, departure of the residents of Beryslav, Bilozersk, Aleksandrovsk and Snigiryov districts.

All of these activities will be done in an organized manner and at no cost to the residents. Those who want to move to the left bank can stay on the left bank of the Kherson region. Some will want to go further to the regions of Russia.

Under these conditions, Marat Khusnullin, deputy chairman of the Russian government, announced that all families, I mean those who will move to Russia’s inner regions, will receive housing certificates (the right to free housing ownership) and may settle down there forever.

Dear fellow countrymen, I would like to say once again that our army (the Russian army) has very strong capabilities to repel any attack. But for our military to work calmly and not to think that civilians are standing behind their backs you MUST leave these districts that I have named and allow the military to do its work properly and with fewer losses for the civilians.

Our cause is just and we know for sure that we will win!

Looks like civilians will be evacuated but the military must stay and fight, this will be a pivotal battle. NATO’s nazi hordes drool at the idea of massacring people of Khreson, they will throw everything into the battle to appease their demonic gods of murder and rape! Now is the time for Russia to take out as much of the soulless savages as possible!

The Beast with seven heads and ten horns (Ukraine is a member of the ten horns) will come to an end. The end is clearly stated. Europe will hate the USA and NATO after going through a hell winter. Europeans will lack food, heating and jobs. Europeans will blame the USA.

When enough suffering as occurred in Europe, the Europeans will overthrow their CIA installed leaders and turn on NATO…. the CIA will be shredded. Secrets of the CIA will become available to many countries. The agents working in the CIA will be purchased by other countries while many of the evil CIA agents and handlers will be killed for their crimes (the prostitute will be torn to pieces and her flesh eaten)

John Tosh

NATO hopes Russia will get tired and let Ukraine Win. Russia knows it would be suicidal for Ukraine to win. Solution: Complete destruction of Ukraine NATO will be seen in the coming decades as a cowardly army which leads its followers to death. NATO will no longer be respected. NATO countries will have a hard time attacking any other country. Many countries will fight back when NATO tries to attack. The end of the Beast with Seven heads and Ten horns plus the prostitute riding on its back is at hand.

Agreed. I have criticised the bloodless official comments of the Russian Central Command. This, however, is totally different and I appreciate that SF posts this. Very much.

We really have issues with comments. We don’t have the resources to moderate this section. As for censorship, we have never censored anyone. As for not being able to write a comment, it could be a technical problem with the section itself, or technical opposition from our detractors. The fact is that we are forced to use the standard WordPress plugin for comments.

The Objective

But you should censor most of comments until you find something better, preferably some kind of registration. There is no free speech in war, enemy trolls should be treated as such. Even more so because they are total idiots.

Donnchadh (banned )

As I seem to be banned I am glad that–at last —you are honest enough to admit western intelligence services are assisting these obviously-paid posters to hack your website even though your servers are in Russia — BUT may I say on another PRO Russia website with Word-press but no Re-captcha-Google I have have zero problem telling the truth about the west-aka-USA as well as Zionist influence on the western world.

And to make it worse its servers are right in the heart of the USA–I accept you have limited resources and that you are definitely targeted is a FACT !

America pumps $100,s of Millions into lying propaganda – cant you ask Russia for help as your servers are located there — I know it costs money to protect servers ?

Joe

I’m sure you could get some decent volunteers

Dave

Hello SouthFront, thank you for the clarification. I agree there should be some moderation, the amount of insult, vitriolic racism etc. is getting out of hand. I do appreciate your ‘no censorship’ approach in comments. There should be free speećh, of course, especially in times of war. But insults etc. are something different.

You could try using something like Akismet. Other than that, moderation takes a lot of time, of course. Why are you “forced” not to use some moderation tool, might I ask?

JJ345

Thank you for replying and I have one other question, why did you guys stop using Disqus? Having trouble funding?

We could block trolls and one-man spawners before with Disqus.

I do apologize for coming at you guys hard – but none of those first 12 comments were from trolls or spammers. If using a standard WordPress plugin for comments is the problem we are all fuked. I know that sometimes legit comments are marked as spam if the commenter participates on multiple forums and blogs.

If you guys know that’s the reason let us know. Besides that thanks for your hard work.

N.N.

I am not an expert, but can Russia maybe find a way to kill those “nationalists”, who prevent the ordinary population from surrendering or fleeing the front line, instead of killing the ordinary population who is forced to fight? I mean, if one knows where the front line is, one also sort of knows where those “nationalists” need to be, in order to have the opportunity to shoot at deserters. If you can get them, it should be much easier to “fight” against the rest, because the rest is less ambitious to fight.

Kherson city oblast is a most important city and area should it fall to nato we would lose an opportunity to control the road to Nickolov and onward to Odessa itself. It would also mean a great threat to Crimea from the Kiev regime. So this is telling me that Kherson will be a major fighting zone throughout the winter months to come and maybe after that! I forsee the possibility that Kherson may well become nato’s Stalingrad I know the city well many time I visit a beautiful city. Nato will pay a heavy price this is not Iraq or Afghanistan and our Russian people will fight street by street house by house the fascists will pay a price in numbers they would never imagine

Kherson is seen to be vulnerable because of the problems getting supplies over the estuary. Yet the Ukro’s seem unable to mount a significant offensive in more than one location at a time. Currently it is keeping them occupied here. If this area is surrendered, it could be easier than holding a difficult territory that has virtually become an island, but the Ukros probably won’t stay sitting on the estuary banks and instead move their forces to another area like back to the North where they don’t face such geographical obstacles so the problems won’t go away, although there won’t be the same supply difficulties to resolve. Certainly it needs a good General to figure out the best course of action!
