Syrian Army And Its Allies Reinforce Their Positions In Al-Bukamal, Prepare To Repel New ISIS Attacks – Report

Support SouthFront

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Iranian-backed forces reinforced their positions in the city of al-Bukamal near the Syrian-Iraqi border in the southern Deir Ezzor countryside deploying several new units there, the Syrian Observatory for Humans Rights (SOHR) reported on June 20.

According to the pro-opposition monitoring group, the SAA and its allies are taking these defensive measures because the remaining fighters of ISIS in the Homs desert are preparing to launch a new attack on al-Bukamal. The terrorist group launched two attacks on the border city earlier this year. However, the SAA and its allies repelled both of them.

The ISIS-linked news agency Amaq confirmed that ISIS fighters are still active northwest and west of al-Bukamal. On June 19, ISIS fighters shelled several positions of the SAA and its allies around the city with recoilless rifles, according to Amaq.

ISIS is likely planning to capture al-Bukamal in order to re-establish a foothold on the western bank of the Euphrates river. This will allow the terrorist group to establish a constant link with its remaining fighters on the eastern bank of the river and the Iraqi border.

ISIS fighters shell several positions of the SAA north and west of al-Bukamal:

Almasdar news and 2 other pro govt sources reports that the SAA liberated the entire Isis pocket in southern deir ezzor (Homs desert). Is this true? If so, how come only 50 Isis fighters were killed? There were about 1000 Isis fighters there. Are they sleeper cells now?

hard to fight an enemy who is allied with nato.nato(us) choppers are non-stop 24hrs taxi for isis and various other jihadi groups. They move them constantly from one area to another, constantly giving them information about SAA,hezbollah and iranian forces where abouts, in short logistical help and loads of different weapon systems. Its like playing hide and seek.eg. SAA and allied forces go into an area, kill the insurgents, and short time later nato choppers make sure that exactly these just liberated area is full of jiahidis again. And if the advance is to big by SAA and allied forces, they get bombed by nato, just like a couple of days ago when nato bombed SAA and iraq popular forces near al-bukamal with 55 dead and dozens more wounded. This will continue as long as nato has a foothold in Syria and more important in IRAQ.As soon as nato leaves(i should better say is made to go) Iraq and syria this war is over in less than a month.

Bill Wilson

You actually believe that nonsense?

potcracker2588

Facts bro…just facts….has been reported for years now….how nato choppers are isis taxi. So get a life dude, and stop bs me. peace

lene johansen

EXACTLY- very accurately

Bill Wilson

I check Wikipedia’s map of the war to see who holds what where. It appears that the SAA has recently taken control of quite a few locations in that desert area, probably where a water well is located to deny ISIS their use. That’s one big empty region that ISIS knows well so can still sidestep around those locations to cause mischief.

They are now in Al Tanf having traditional US and English breakfasts :)

Wise Gandalf

You are megabullshits shitting white trash.

Siegfried

Everybody knows that the CIA hired that g@rbage, so be so kind and STFU, Struly-boy

How about the best of both worlds with the ‘Marder’ :)

Or just keep it the same and ignore the PC Brigade. ?

Or notch it up a bit with King Tiger :)

Very nice but ‘See the tank and you will see the man ‘.

Is it not a bit too portly for a man of your demeanour ?

The waistline is rather full.

You read my thoughts :)

Btw., everybody knows, you are not nazi. :)

PZIVJ

A waste of resources I think, they even had to build special double rail tracks to move it. But the siege of Savastapol was held up waiting for the big guns to come crawling to the front. The Germans had to repair and regauge the rail lines as they moved forward into Russia. And then the Russians had to do the same thing later. Both sides needed an abundance of engineering regiments, etc during WW2. I believe the Baltics still use the Russian gauge, making movement difficult for NATO forces?

Wise Gandalf

you are right. also in last sentence.

PZIVJ

No doubt they had to change into their nicer FSA uniforms first. They are also there to receive their backpay and await next assignment? :)

Siegfried

Ask the AMERICANS where the rest till 1,000 ISIS @pes are

potcracker2588

thats new news from fars news agency

“The US forces had in the past 10 days been busy with transferring the ISIL terrorists with at least 10 armored trucks and heavy artillery to attack Albu Kamal from Abu Hameseh in Hasaka.” and this has been going on from day 1.

Siegfried

Do you prefer Jerusalem Post? Go there

Wise Gandalf

You should read us from that journal, rabbi!

Ed

You have to admire the sheer resilience of these guys. Despite numerous attempts to attack and all of them repelled, they STILL keep coming!!

Siegfried

Coming where? Into the SAA machine-guns? The CIA cocaine must be damn good :))

very very very bad news out of iraq today.. popular forces fighting with iraqi state police forces…several killed…….now iraqi state police have surrounded the headquaters of popular forces. So now its practically official, the us controls iraqi government……what i always said…the obvious.. what would be the first and obvious thing a FREE iraqi president would do??? Ofcourse kick out the us troops and us mercenaries.Only the popular forces always called for the us to leave iraq.Never ever did the iraqi government ask them to leave. After lastets bombing in abu kamal where dozens of popular forces were mrdered, the us got scared that they would attck us tropps in iraq.Thats the iraqi government backlash on them.

This is the worst news for the entire middle east in years.

FlorianGeyer

” This will allow the terrorist group to establish a constant link with its remaining fighters on the eastern bank of the river and the Iraqi border.”

More to the point, if ISIS regains Bukamal it will give the US an excuse to attack it and then insert an SDF garrison that will block the existing route to Iraq and Iran.

ISIS is de facto controlled by the US Coalition of Terror.

Siegfried

“USA attack”.. or just march in as a protection-troop for the scvmbags (–the Russian cannot bomb them) ? And “…then insert an SDF garrison” = you man the ISIS-scvmbags change the flag and become SDF ;)

FlorianGeyer

Something like that, yes Siegfried :)

Most things the US gets involved in ends badly for them, so lets hope this does as well :)

Smaug

I think ISIS in that area is much weaker than South Front and the SAA think… But that’s just an opinion, there is no way any of us could know that.

Saaed Wayan

Lies…… Sssssss It is assumed here that all who speak against the terrorists are angels. While I see here only demons do not speak the truth. There was no revolution against Isis and Isis was not there at all. The reason for the emigration of the Syrian people and the destruction of cities is the Syrian regime. It does not launch its campaigns against Isis from the beginning of the revolution, but rather destroys and displaces the people of the cities opposed to its presidency. I saw a military attache put a black media and come from Iraq across the border in Abu Kamal entering Syria. This happened programmatically after the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem to Iraq and it was programmed between Maliki and Iran and the Syrian regime. . During that flight, the Syrian aircraft flew over it and did not bombard it, but bombed a school for children in the neighboring city of Rigga. Everyone knows that Maliki resigned after that because he carried out the order and said that there are 1,000 elements of the terrorists. Get out of Abu Ghraib prison. This was after the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Kalb to Iraq. Maliki would have gone to meet Obama in a formal way to look into it. Of course, Maliki resigned and seized the price and paid a visit to Hassan Nasrallah in southern Lebanon …; Can any of you deny that ..!
