The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continues to challenge the presence of the US-led coalition in the northeastern region of Syria.
On June 29, SAA soldiers intercepted a convoy of the US-led coalition near Satih al-Sharqi hill to the east of the town of al-Qamishli in the northern al-Hasakah countryside. The soldiers forced the convoy to retreat from the area after a brief confrontation.

Later on Jul 1, another convoy of the US-led coalition was intercepted near the town of Qubur al-Gharangah to the south of the town of al-Qamishli by SAA soldiers. The convoy, which consisted of five armored vehicles, was eventually forced to retreat

SAA soldiers and government supporters have been working to restrict the movements of the US-led coalition in northeastern Syria, especially in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah, for a while now.
Several hundreds of US troops are currently present in northeastern Syria. Most of these troops are deployed at bases in key gas and oil fields in the governorates of al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor. In the last few months, the coalition, who refuses to set a time limit for its mission in Syria, reinforced many of its bases in the region.
Washington’s unwillingness to withdraw its troops from Syria could soon force Damascus and its allies to take more radical measures. US officials have already reported an increase in attacks targeting American troops in the war-torn country.
