Syrian Army Responds To Militants’ Attacks In Northern Hama With Increased Artillery Strikes On Their Positions

On August 5, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) artillery and rocket launchers shelled several positions of the militants in the villages and towns of al-Jnabirah, Arbain, al-Zakah, al-Ziyarah and Zayzun in the northern Hama countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

As a result of the shelling, many militants were killed, including “Taiser Ahmad al-Eis,” a fighter of the newly formed National Front for Liberation (NFL).

The shelling is a clear response to the failed attack of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) on the area of Zilaqiat, which occurred a day earlier. According to the SANA, the SAA repelled the attack after killing and injuring several militants.

These repeated violation of the de-escalation zone in the northern Hama countryside may force the SAA and its allies to launch a military operation to secure the region. Earlier this year, Turkey established several observation posts in northern Hama, but it failed to put an end to these violations.
