Syrian Army Rocket Strike Injured Militants In Southern Idlib

Illustrative image

On July 23, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a barrage of rockets at militants’ positions in the town of Ain La Rose in the southern Idlib countryside.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the rocket strike injured at least two militants of an unidentified group.

The SAA also shelled the towns of Kafr Amma and al-Qasir in the western Aleppo countryside from its positions near the 46th Regiments Base.

These strikes were likely a response to recent provocations by Greater Idlib militants. Despite the fairly large presence of Turkish forces in the region, terrorist groups there are still carrying out attacks on SAA troops.

Turkey committed to neutralize all the remaining terrorist groups in Greater Idlib, including al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, under the agreement with Russia signed on March 5. However, Turkey has not yet fulfilled its obligations.

The militants’ hostile actions are jeopardizing the Russian-Turkish agreement. These acts may soon force the SAA and its allies to resume ground operations in Greater Idlib.
