AlMasdarNews reports: A large transport truck carrying 141 stolen Syrian relics attempted to bypass a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) checkpoint along the Syrian-Lebanese border on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of the driver and the confiscation of his contents.
According to a Syrian security source, the driver was planning on transporting these relics to the Lebanese port-city of Tripoli (Trablos), where he would then travel to Turkey in order to sell these for a profit.
The Syrian War has opened the door for several marauders and burglars to plunder Syrian relics and sell them for a personal profit in neighboring countries.
The contents that were seized by the Syrian Armed Forces on Thursday were believed to have been stolen from the ancient desert-cities in the Homs Governorate.
