The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged on October 10 that three troops were killed amid fighting in the northern Gaza Strip.
The slain troops were all serving in the ranks of the 5460th support unit of the 460th Brigade, according to the military.
The IDF didn’t clarify where or how exactly the three troops were killed. However, Hebrew and Arab media speculated that they were killed in the Jabaliya refugee camp, where the military launched a ground offensive against the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions earlier this week.
Hamas’ military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, said earlier on October 10 that its fighters had ambushed a convoy of 12 Israeli military vehicles in Jabaliya, using explosive devices and rocket-propelled grenades. The fighters later targeted several Merkava main battle tanks that were dispatched by the IDF to the ambush site.
Both the al-Qassam Brigades and the al-Quds Brigade, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, released in the last few days several videos showing some of the clashes with the IDF in Jabaliya.
The last three deaths brought Israel’s toll in the ground operations against Hamas and other Palestinian armed factions in Gaza and along its border to 353. More than 2,280 others have been reportedly wounded. In addition, over 500 vehicles were hit in the Strip, according to Hebrew media.
Meanwhile on the Palestinian side, the death toll from the Israeli war has exceeded 42,000, with women and children making up most of the casualties.
Despite taking more losses and failing to achieve any of its main objectives, Israel appears to be determined to go on with its war on Gaza.

the wounded figures for the idf are far too low as are the fatalities but the wounded is more important to my point. the actual figure at this stage of permanent injuries is about 10,000. the loss of these 10000 to the economy but also ongoing health and welfare costs has to be around 100000 per person per annum. thats a total of 10 billion. most of the injured are under 30 years of age and will a further 30 to 40 years life expectancy.
thats 400 billion lost to the israeli treasury or 44000 per person in israel. if the injured figure doubles thats 800 billion and 88000 per person. thats before you factor in other costs of the war. the immediate hospitalisation costs alone, if you average 250000 costs per permanently injured, could be around 25 billion.
