On June 17th, Turkey announced that it began, yet another, operation in Northern Iraq – Claw-Tiger.
The Defense Ministry stated that Turkish soldiers are positioned in Haftanin region.
They are backed by Air Forces, ATAK helicopters, UAVs and armed drones to target the PKK and other terrorist elements that threaten the security of Turkey’s people and its borders, the ministry added.

Carried by Turkish media, this latest operation is carried out “as part of Turkish legitimate defense rights as per the international law oriented against the PKK and other terrorist elements that have recently attempted increased harassment and attacks on our police station and base areas,” the Turkish Defense Ministry claimed.
As part of Operation Claw-Tiger, the Turkish Armed Forces destroyed PKK targets in northern Iraq’s Haftanin region.
According to security sources, Turkish forces hit over 150 targets of the PKK terror group in the region with howitzers and multiple rocket launchers.
Following airstrikes, Turkish commandos have also conducted an infiltration operation through land and air to the terrorist targets.
“You have always shown the power of the Turkish commando, we believe that you will show it once again in those mountains today, and make history as you have done before,” Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar told the commanders of the troops.

Operation Claw-Tiger is a follow-up operation of Claw-Eagle that Turkey started on June 15th, as a result of which reportedly at least 81 PKK positions were eliminated, and an undisclosed number of members were killed.
Operation Claw-Eagle was being carried out against terrorist bases in Sinjar, Qandil, Karacak, Zap, Avasin-Basyan and Hakurk.
Turkey’s Defense Ministry had said earlier that fighter jets, UAVs, satellite and tanker planes participated in the Claw-Eagle operation.
A video was released showing strikes on PKK targets as part of the operation.

Turkey is busy lately what with Iraq, Syria, Libya adventures
The Ottomans are mounting their heads, Iraq, Syria, Libya and what else? no one will be able to say that I didn’t look for it.
Mighty Turkish Army
Eh, its not really a “second” operation. First one was obiviously some kind of premtive strike, kind of a “light them up” thing and now it is being followed by the advancement of ground forces.
Regardless, its impossible to show results on maps as the area is INSANELY mountainous. This entire operation could just be about capturing very high points to control passages from Iraq to Turkey.
As much as I hate Turks, the only lower animal is the Kurd, so I’m fine with this.
Bombing the treacherous Kurds is fine!
