Late on May 8, the Turkish military captured two Kurdish fighters who attempted to infiltrate one of its positions in the vicinity of the town of Ras al-Ayn in northeast Syria.
Turkish sources shared photos of the captured fighters who were wearing tin foil suits. The fighters apparently thought that the suits would make them completely invisible for thermal surveillance systems.
According to the sources, the fighters were members of the People’s Protection Units (YPG). The Kurdish faction is the largest component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is ruling over northeast Syria with direct support from the U.S.-led coalition.

The SDF has not commented on the Turkish claims, thus far. The Kurdish-led faction suspended all military operations against Turkish forces in northeast Syria last November in accordance with ceasefire agreements brokered by Russia and the U.S.
For the last few months, the Turkish military has been claiming that Kurdish forces are plotting attacks on its troops in northeast Syria. The failed infiltration attempt near Ras al-Ayn is the first evidence of such attempts.
The only other accessory they need is a tin foil helmet.

“The failed infiltration attempt…” Or it was a planned recce. A recce party getting shot at or getting captured, tells where the enemy is and what did´n work, so technically they did their job.
Oh, and thermals dont show heat, they show temperature differences. Knowing basics of how thermal imaging works might have helped them.
Pro tip: If you want to foil <– pun intended, something, then first know how to use it and how it works.
Correct. And the body’s conductive/convective heat transfer to the foil suit would change its temperature from the surrounding environment. I feel sorry for these two goons; it’s like they’re too mentally challenged to be held responsible…
Correct x 2 – and body heat would actually INCREASE the thermal anomaly/profile seen on Thermal IR sensors !
Decoys. While the head-choppers were distracted by the shiny infiltrators, 75 PKK were sneaking around behind their position with a high-powered LWIR quantum cascade laser. The reflective guys just laughed as the invisible, scorching beam slowly swept across their captors. Jihadis heads were bursting into flames around them, yet the infiltrators were cool as a cucumber (they could pull their heads inside their foil suits – like a turtle). The smell was really bad, so they passed out a couple of times because of that, but were otherwise unharmed.
I wonder where they got the suits and information to use them from?
