The Ukrainian military continues attempts to attack Russian rear areas with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). On the night of September 18, no Ukrainian drones strikes were reported by the Russian military officials but Ukrainian forces changed tactics launched several waves of strikes in various Russian regions in the early morning and evening on September 17. Several Ukrainian UAVs were shot down and intercepted over the Belgorod, Voronezh and Moscow regions. The main target of Ukrainian attacks was the Crimean peninsula.

On September 17, Crimea faced four Ukrainian attacks, two in the early morning and two more in the evening. In total, the peninsula was targeted by nine UAVs. While the previous Ukrainian strikes mainly targeted the western coast, where the Russian Black Sea fleet is deployed, the recent attack marked Ukrainian attempts to reach targets in almost all Crimean coast regions.

“Attempts by the Kiev regime to commit terrorist attacks by aircraft-type UAVs on objects on the territory of the Russian Federation have been stopped. Drones intercepted over western, south-western, north-western and eastern parts of the Crimean peninsula.” – the Russian Ministry of Defence reported.

According to some local sources, four Ukrainian drones were shot down in the areas of the Tarkhankut Cape in the west, the village of Portovoe in the north, the village of Kirovskoe, where a military airfield is located, and the town of Feodosia, where Ukrainian forces targeted an oil depot, in the east. Five more UAVs were intercepted by forces of the 31st division of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, with support of EW means in the area of Sevastopol. Two drones were suppressed at the Cape Fiolent, two others were destroyed on approach to the Belbek airfield, and another drone was reportedly shot down over the southwestern part of Sevastopol.

The take-off of several Ukrainian drones was recorded by Russian forces on the evening of September 16 in the north of the Zaporozhye region. They likely targeted the northern and eastern parts of the peninsula. The UAVs that targeted the western coast could be launched by the Ukrainian military from the Odessa region or Ukrainian servicemen could try to launch them from the abandoned drilling platforms in the Black Seait is located a few dozen kilometers from the peninsula. The Ukrainian media hastily claimed that some military targets were destroyed near Sevastopol and the Cape Tarkhankut but the reports were immediately refuted by the locals. All Ukrainian UAVs were intercepted and the attack resulted in no damage. Probably, the Ukrainian media were confused by the smoke rising over the Sevastopol port during the attack. The Russian military used special aerosol camouflage in the area of the bay in order to prevent Ukrainian UAVs from spotting the Russian ships. This is the first case of the use of this aerosol reported in Sevastopol. The governor of the city confirmed that it was deployed and called on the residents to keep calm since it was harmless, although unpleasant to smell.

According to unofficial Russian sources that are close to the military, the drone strikes on the Crimean peninsula were accompanied by another operation of Ukrainian landing groups on speed boats. The Russian military first spotted the manoeuvres of the Ukrainian boats near the Island of Zmeiny, which transferred servicemen and equipment from the town of Vilkovo in the Odessa region. Soon, 14 Ukrainian boats reportedly headed towards the Crimean peninsula, passing through the drilling stations to the west of the peninsula. The boats were immediately struck by Russian Su-24 naval aviation aircraft of the Black Sea Fleet with four RBK-500 cluster munitions. As a result, several watercraft were reportedly damaged, and the others were forced to retreat. The Russian military is yet to comment on the incident in the Black Sea.

War

ukrainians endgame is simple. lay a siege on crimea until it folds. putin will be deposed for the massive loss of territory and war is over.

D.K.

drugs are bad for you!

Darius

o yeehh…

AM Hants

riddle me this, how many years has crimea been classed as russian territory? riddle me this, why do nations that rely on self determination/will of the people, refuse to accept the people of crimea are entitled to exactly the same? even the uk was saying back in 1994, that ukraine would lose crimea, owing to lack of respect for both territory and people,

Beťar

obliehať krym? tak ty si iný stratég, to ti poviem.

Fidel

i am amazed. you are a great strategist, really.

what is not clear to me is what kind of drugs you administer to those suicide squads to attack crimea “in boats” from odessa?

mission impossible falls short.

Sunny

yeah that strategy worked well on the donbass region as well 🤣🤣🤣

Beťar

rusko musí už niečo podniknúť, lebo darebácky štát usa bude neustále zvyšovať stávky. usa ide o všetko!!! usa sú v totálnych sračkách a nevedia sa z nich vyhrabať. ukrajinu a krym hlavne potrebovali získať preto ,lebo neskôr ich mali v pláne použiť na nástup proti rf!!! ale putin ich predbehol, raz darmo, putin je génius!!! vedel čo má robiť a kedy to má spraviť. svetu mier!!!
