On Thursday, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) crossed the Khabur river in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside, and captured Gharibah Sharqiyah and Jasimi villages on the eastern bank of the river, according to Kurdish sources.
Furthermore, the SDF announced that its fighters repelled an attack of ISIS on its positions around Abu Kashba village in the northwestern Deir Ezzor countryside.
The SDF claimed that its members captured 4 vehicles, 5 VBIEDs and 6 motorcycles of ISIS. SDF fighters also captured large amount of weapons including a Konkurs Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) launcher and its missiles.
Meanwhile, in the southern al-Hasakah countryside, the SDF reached the strategic Markada town, according to Kurdish sources. The SDF captured the water station and the police department in the southern part of the town, according to the sources.
However, the SDF has not confirmed any of these claims yet.
The SDF will likely advance from its new positions on the eastern bank of the Khabur river towards the Syrian-Iraqi border, and the strategic Omar oil fields in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
This will mean more tension with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies in Syria, and possibly with the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) on the border with Iraq.
In addition to this report, unconfirmed SDF related tweeters report SDF did a Mayadin on the Omar fields. They crossed the empty badiya and are now at the northern edge of the Omar fields, while IS is counterattacking the SAA bridgehead.
If correct, clever strategy of SDF with large implications.
Time will tell.
“clever strategy”? I would call it SDF suicidal strategy (as a proxy) implemented by outside of the Kurdish people’s interest. Unconfirmed is the rub here, stay tuned as there are reports with a completely different reality.
This site has no problems, nor most of the commenters, with unconfirmed reports that are positive for SAA. Nor has the site problems with unconfirmed comments in general , especially when it says unconfirmed.
But why do you even bother to troll? Neither narrative is confirmed, so you’re being asked (quite politely I thought) to pull your head in :)
He is a racist supremacist Mossad dsinfo troll
kurdistan will gain from its relaxing in kirkuk. they will occupy the city peacefully.
They are retreating to the pre 2003 borders and the possibly will be forced to the pre 1991 borders.
SDF will be kicked out soon. Just like Kurdistan dream was finished in two hours. Even if US starts bombing, the SAA will not stop.
The Iraqi Kurds thought they could keep Kirkuk but failed & that is with a 60% population in the city & district. You can argue they had some legitimacy there. DE hardly has any Kurds so anything they seize I expect them to use as leverage in post war negotiations otherwise they will have to be removed by force – wait & see
SDF is syrian, consisting of several ethnicities.
What is the matter with you as no arab has any problems with arabs ruling of kurds, but kurds partly involved in liberating their arab countrymen is suddenly a problem?
Arabs governing themselves under a multi ethnic political umbrella is suddenly a problem?
Funny that the practice, as seen in Manbij, Tel Abyad and Tabqah, is quite different. MMC was heavily involved in the Raqqah campaign. Hardly something that can be forced.
SDF ARE KURDS…maybe Syria citizen.
Even US generals acknowledge that SDF is just a re-branded YPG. See link:

kirkuk were and will remain buffer areas between kurdistan and iraq. the kurds will return there not as soldiers but as occupants. they did well to not resist the iraq units for now.
They have resisted in other parts PKK trash set fires and started looting in Kirkuk, before they left . Why they will not be allowed to return, Kurdistan is a failed project.
Omar fields are under SAA control, Thabiyah fields are also. The meeting yesterday was about ISIS members in the SDF they will have to be turned over.
SAA just bomb the SDF terrorist once you are done with ISIS
The Kurds are expanding into areas that were Arab before ISIL’s taking them over.
They should move back to Kurdish territories or the Government of Iraq and Syria have every right to force those invaders out.
It’s not the Kurds that want it. I think.k US is telling them to take it to carve up Syria but I don’t think SAA will allow it. With Russia’s air cover ,US would not dare to interfere.
Syria and Russia tactic leave a lot to say here….A LOT.
SAA. once your completed your eastern ; Join forces with Iraqi and bomb SDF 1005%! They are only committing war crimes and stealing territory which is not their own! You need to split up your men to cover wider areas.
