Go Turkey, go!

Barba_Papa

Against the one group of Kurds who aren’t causing any problems? They should go after Kobani, not Afrin. But that would bring Erdogan into conflict with the Americans. Afrin by contrast is lower hanging fruit.

Daniel Castro

It doesn’t matter, if they were allies they would already have pledged loyalty to the syrian government.

I say take them down so kurds in Deir Ez Zor and Raqqa lose hope of ever having access to the sea.

Barba_Papa

Think about it, do you really think it is smart to have a fully Turkish controlled zone along the border from Idlib to Manbij? One that sits next to Aleppo, Syria’s second city?

The loyalties of the Afrin Kurds aside, they are not posing any problems to Damascus, as they are relatively isolated and utterly dependent on Damascus for support. They are an excellent lightning rod to distract the Turks from doing something stupid against the regime and prevent the Turks from stealing even more Syrian land.

PZIVJ

And will the Turkish backed FSA pledge loyalty to the Syrian govt? :D Kurd linkup was stopped at Al Bab area already along with SAA and Russian agreement. So why should the Afrin area be messed with now??

Solomon Krupacek

idiot!

Solomon Krupacek

thanks russia for splitting of syria! i hope, the oil price will decline to 15 usd/barrel, and the turkish stream chokes on you!

Daniel Castro

War is far from over, some months ago I had some doubts thinking that SDF could declare independence and SAA would do nothing, everything now points toawards war against SDF if they don’t negotiate giving arab lands back.

Turkey of course will play a role to put pressure on them.

And from a pragmatic perspective it is still better to lose territory to Turkey than to Israel.

Solomon Krupacek

turkey is playing ownd game. the want southwest syrie for themselves. moreover, if the saa let attack turkish army, all kurds will be against damascus. for ever. and this is the dirty game of russians: divide et impera.

Daniel Castro

Kurds are against Syria right now, they have no right to point fingers,

Yes, everyone is playing, including Russia, because unfortunately in this chessboard syria is just one of the coordinates, and the ones who loses loses it all, and then Syria won’t just lose a piece of land, it will cease to exist.

PZIVJ

Divide et impera is being used by many foreign powers in Syria. And yet you chose to blame Russia ? This makes no sense at all.

Solomon Krupacek

i blame russia, because nrussia fefines itself as allied country.

dutchnational

SDF is not against Damascus perse. They are syrian but against a sectarian alawite dictatorship with no rights for anybody and they insist on having democratic rights, at the munimum for their own region and who can blame them.

As long as the US has the back of the SDF, SAA will back off, even when urged on by Iran and its stoogies.

Daniel Castro

SDF are zionist stooges that want to steal syrian land, they would already have declared independency if their plan hadn’t failed in Irak.
