The second year of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine is coming to an end. As a result of this period, Kiev has lost four regions without a word, and there are no prospects for their return. Moreover, more and more countries supporting Ukraine stop supplying it with arms and equipment, as they do not believe in the victory over Russia. Thus, Kiev has no choice but to hold on to the existing territories (especially the eastern and central territories bordering Russia).
For this purpose, defense fortifications are being actively built and armed forces are being pulled in. In addition, according to reports from local residents of the eastern regions, there has been a recent tendency for residents of the western regions to move to areas close to the line of contact and the border with Russia. Many citizens who left abroad did not get rid of their real estate in Ukraine, and apartments and houses either remained empty or were occupied by relatives and acquaintances.
It is this housing stock that, on Zelensky’s instructions, is being used by regional authorities to resettle residents of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnitsky regions to increase the percentage of people who do not speak Russian. The housing left behind is taken over by the regional authorities and then rented to the resettled people, who pay a fee to the administrations. Citizens are tempted by more favorable conditions and move to the East.
However, in the case of Ukraine, everything is accompanied by a corruption scheme, where the main beneficiaries are the Kiev authorities, who did not include this item in the list of budget revenues and actually put the money in their pockets.
Citizens who do not want to participate in this process are pressured by nationalist formations present in large numbers in the West. And in the end, the apartments are either transferred into the ownership of persons affiliated to the regional authorities for cheap, and sold at full value to other people, or go to nationalist bandits.
Often, the resettled citizens have an even more negative attitude towards all indigenous residents, thus suppressing the possibility of protests and the desire to help the Russian side in order to end the war as soon as possible. Russian speakers often stay at home and do not go out on the streets, or leave the country for good, freeing up new places for the new Western Ukrainians. The scheme continues to work in this way.
Despite the seemingly logical actions of Kiev, these actions look extremely immoral and do not help to increase the level of support for Zelensky and his team. On the contrary, it is precisely such a policy that reduces Zelensky’s level on the eve of the elections.
