Afghan Army Killed 25 Taliban Fighters In Southeastern Afghanistan

On November 1, Aref Noori spokesman for Ghazni province in southeastern Afghanistan told Xinhua News Agency that the Afghan Army and Police repelled several attacks of the Taliban in the province during the last 48 hours.

The Afghan government forces killed 25 fighters of the Taliban and lost two Afghan policemen and five soldiers during the clashes in Ghazni province, according to Noori.

“Taliban militants launched multi-pronged offensives on security checkpoints in seven districts of the province, including Andar, Zanakhan, Qarabagh, Ajrustan, Jaghatu, Arzu and Khawja Omari on Tuesday evening but have been repulsed and the Taliban fled away after leaving 25 bodies behind,” Noori told Xinhua News Agency.

Back on October 30, Taliban fighters captured a position of the Afghan Army in Ghazni city, the capital of the province. The Taliban news agency Voice of Jihad, claimed that 12 Afghan soldiers were killed in the attack back then.

In a separated development, Waheeda Shahkar  spokeswoman for Parwan province governor announced that 15 civilians were killed, and 25 others were injured after a fuel tanker exploded in the capital of the province, Charikar city on November 1.

According to Afghan sources, the fuel tanker exploded after a magnetic IED that was attached to it detonated. The IED was detonated just when a bus was passing by the fuel tanker killing most of the civilians who were inside it, according to local sources.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
