The Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen announced on June 27 that they had attacked a merchant vessel in the Red Sea and a “vital target” in the Israeli Mediterranean port city of Haifa.
“The attack targeted the ship SeaJoy in the Red Sea because the company which owns it has dealt with Israel,” the group’s military spokesman Brigade General Yahya Sarea said in a statement.
“The attack was carried out by an uncrewed boat and several missiles and drones,” he added, noting that “the operation resulted in a direct and accurate hit on the ship.”
The spokesman also said that “the other attack was a joint operation with the Islamic Resistance in brotherly Iraq (IRI) that targeted a vital target in Haifa with several cruise missiles, and the operation achieved its goal successfully.”
The IRI confirmed the joint operation in an own statement and released footage showing the launch of what appears to be several cruise missiles.
Hebrew media didn’t report any warnings or interceptions in Haifa. Nevertheless, this does not mean that the attack was a failure as the Israeli military has the power to censor all news related to security incidents in the country.
Separately, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, a detachment of the Royal Navy, received on June 27 a report of an attack on a vessel about 83 nautical miles west of the Yemeni Red Sea port city of al-Hodeidah.
In an advisory notice, it said that the attack was carried out by a “waterborne improvised explosive device,” adding that the crewmembers were safe and the vessel was proceeding to its next port of call.
In addition, the United States Central Command announced that its forces intercepted on June 27 a Houthi drone over the Red Sea.
Since last November, the Houthis have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the UK in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in response to the Israeli war and siege on the Palestinian enclave of the Gaza Strip.
In addition, the group launched dozens of drones and missiles at the southernmost Israeli city of Eilat and shot down six American-made combat drones over Yemen and nearby waters.
The U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January in an attempt to deter the group and degrade its offensive capabilities, but to no avail. In fact, group recently boosted its capabilities and began cooperating with the IRI, further expanding the scope of its operations.

keep at it and the jews will despair and flee as fast as possible! and aim for the haifa refinery’s discharge/loading facilities thereby stopping the production of any and all hydrocarbons necessary for the jews to continue its genocide against the palestinian people – time to end the criminal and illegal forces out of tel aviv. now!
the evil. murderous, dastardly, despicable, diabolical zio-nazi heimy heeby jew yid kike menace is a world disgrace. the exterminator is long overdue for these murderous bedbugs.
smoke haifa like a roach… burn all the rothschild refinery gear you can…
dam, it didn’t sink. better luck next time, ship could be carrying supplies to the zionists
strange as so many missiles launched vs mechant ships and so few hit or even sunk. in the 80’s irak-iran war, the belligerents did a lot better with more ancient weapons. why the houtis cannot sink reliably a merchant ship?
they dont have to. just the threat and occasional sinking have closed all zio ports and hit the us and its uk lapdog where it hurts. no insurance, no red sea transit. enjoy the scenic route all round the coast of africa.
