Some Arab Units Withdrew From Raqqa Battle After Disagreements With SDF - SOHR

FILE IMAGE

A report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) claimed that several Arab units from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) have withdrawn from the battle of Raqqa after disagreements with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to the report, the “Elite Forces” that follow the Syrian opposition leader Ahmed Jarba and is considered to be among the few publicly Saudi-backed groups are among the withdrawing groups.

According to the SOHR, the “Elite Forces” withdrew its fighters from Al-Mashbal and Al-Sinaa districts, the Bab Baghdad area and the  Old Raqqa area in Raqqa city to the Al-Hamrat area in the eastern Raqqa countryside. However, negotiations are under way between the “Elite Forces” and the SDF to return to battle.

From its side, SDF sources claimed that the faction was excluded from the battle because of the bad behavior of its fighters in the front, and its withdrawal from some “strategic point” on front lines with ISIS. The SDF also claimed that the “Elite Forces” tried to present itself as a faction equal to the SDF, which confirms that the SDF aim to keep Raqqa under the  Kurdish influence.

According to SOHR, 117 SDF fighters have been killed in the battle of Raqqa so far, while the “Elite Forces” have lost only two fighters. It’s worth mentioning that Kurdish forces are still the majority involved in Raqqa Operation contrary to what is promoted by the mainstream media and the US-led coalition leadership. This indicates the possibility of problems between Arabs and Kurds in Raqqa city in the future.

Syrian Democratic Forces – good name . But I have accurate name – YPG and allies . And this guy who have pro “SDF” bias says this this https://twitter.com/CivilWarMap/status/883795959435722752

MeMadMax

“YPG and allies, that tolerate them for so long”

Thats better.

i feel like that whole battle up there in raqqa is just for show, as the US/israel control both sides, kurds and daesh

Stephen

ISIS was there near Al-Tanf and fucken US and their allies did not attack them but instead of ISIS, US attacked SAA and their allies. So it proved that ISIS and other terrorists in the Middle East are America pets.

G Dean VanGaya

Good, firm hand to all those who desert any allied effort against the ErgoGullum proxy terrorists.

Barba_Papa

The Syrian Kurds are very left wing, extremely left wing. Which makes their alliance with the US even more ironic. Anyway, any leftwing entity that has the term democratic in its name is usually anything but that. Just look at the Congo, East Germany, or North Korea.

Attrition47

About as democratic as the US, UK, occupied Palestine, South Korea etc then.

G Dean VanGaya

Attrition47, it is a freakish event, that the US/CIA is actually arming a revolutionary movement for once.

Skagos

Of course they are. They know YPG will split Syria in two and will have a foothold in that part.

Barba_Papa

It happened during the Cold War too. Ideology of the movement wasn’t that important, more whoever the government they were fighting against was aligned with.

Barba_Papa

The point is, those countries do not have the word ‘Democratic’ in their official names. Whereas every country that does actually is an undemocratic dictatorial shithole.

Attrition47

You agree that the US, UK, occupied Palestine, South Korea are also undemocratic shiteholes? good lad.

Barba_Papa

I wouldn’t go that far. Maybe the undemocratic part, but not the shithole part. I happen to think my country is undemocratic, but still a reasonable place to live in. Overall all Western countries are. On the other name one country that has the name Democratic in its official name which is a reasonable place to live in?

Attrition47

You’re a fascist?

Barba_Papa

Whatever gave you that idea? Also define fascism. If we’re going to discuss if I’m a fascist it helps to know what the definition of fascism is. Everyone seems to have a different one.

Attrition47

Blah, blah, blah, as every schoolboy knows, a fascist is a liberal without his cardigan.

MeMadMax

First isis, then the kurds….

You can see it coming from a mile away.

WHEN it happens is determined by a number of conditions, some of which change on a daily basis sometimes.

dutchnational

Elite forces are a small force of some two to three thousand fighters that cannot operate by themselves, too small, too untrained, not battle hardened.

They left the Raqqah old city, they broke during a counterattack by IS.

During a fight, in the thick of a battle, one has to be able to rely on your cofighters. Once it is clear you cannot trust them, you cannot include them in your vicinity anymore, at least not in a fight.

They are not coequal to the SDF in toto, the SDF being some thirty times bigger then the Elite forces. This is not the first time some FSA unit thinks they, while being very small, are somehow more important.

Daniel Castro

Put yourelf on their places, they are saudi backed wahabi headchoppers just like ISIS, why would they fight their fellow terrorists to give the city to USA cocksucker kurds in the end? They have no real reason to fight, except money…

G Dean VanGaya

Right, why would they want to help in making Raqqa a city for direct democracy and co-operative economics by and for the people of Raqqa?! Who would want to participate in another one of the hundred + towns the YPG has liberated for a local assembly and to end child and forced marriage, female circumcision, honour beatings, etc. Who would want to participate with the ‘dirty’ Kurds in that project. If people worked with the YPG, maybe the Middle East would even become a leader in human rights, and dignity, couldn’t have that!

Daniel Castro

Don’t pretend we are stupid, kurds aren’t saints, they are taking those territories for them, not for arabs, arabs under kurdish rule will be 2nd class citizens just like palestine under israeli rule. If they wanted democracy they would join the syrian government, the only true legal entity under international law that has the rights over that area.

Raqqa is an arabic city, not a kurdish one, the fact arabs don’t want to conquer the city for kurds tell everything we need to know.

G Dean VanGaya

Well, the proof is in the government, isn’t it. And the YPG liberated area government is largely lead by Arabs. It’s just the reality. If you don’t want partition, I suggest you start helping the revolutionaries, who somehow got the support of the CIA, despite the CIA only ever supporting right wing psychos in its previous history of dirty deals. I hate the U.S. imperialism, but I love the revolution who happen to, amazingly, have US arms and air support!

Daniel Castro

Kurds are being used to partition Syria and will be dumped later, noone in the region want kurdistan except for Kurds and Israel, kurds are being used to achive the greater israel materplan and will be dumped later, plain and simple.

G Dean VanGaya

You are right. A number of US senators have indeed stated to activists in Washington D.C. that the US will indeed dump the Kurdish revolution as soon as the US can. The Senators said that just last month – June. The US doesn’t like what the Syrian revolutionary ‘Kurds’ stand for.

Ronald

FSA , I thought were fighting with Turkey . How can they be on both sides ? Or is this just a SOHR , “error” ?

dutchnational

Kurds aren’t saints. Right. Just like arabs, turks and persians in general aren’t saints. Many arabs have accepted the philosophy of the PYD. YPG and YPJ and became direct members. Some forces did not join SDF but became allies like the Elite forces. They mostly do not have the stomach, fighting spirit or the morale of the SDF forces. If there is a relation between cowardness and being arab, which I doubt, one can see a relation between a low morale and belonging to the FSA.

Mikronos

Syrian Kurds aren’t the same as the Iraqi variety. Neither of them have much to thank America about, particularly a couple of times the US left them hanging out to dry. The great ‘Saddam gassing his Kurds’ propaganda piece was part of one of those times.

There are reasons there has never been an independent Kurdistan.

Daniel Castro

Also, these arabs are fighting on USA side, so they are terrorist, anyone siding with USA and Israel is a terrorist.

G Dean VanGaya

Exactly. I’m encouraged to hear they’ve been disarmed. Very measured but firm hand by the YPG/YPJ. More and more impressed to accept that they are the leaders of the revolution.

Thegr8rambino

this whole battle just seems like a scripted show as both sides are ultimately controlled by US/israel. i wish SAA would, after securing deir ezzor and other parts of the country, move on to raqqa and just completely obliterate anyone who stands in their way :)))

MeMadMax

A number of conditions need to fall into place before that can happen…

Have to wait n see.

Thegr8rambino

Yes what are they?

MeMadMax

Well… if trump is gonna force feed a failed obama/saudi/qatar agenda after the raqqa switches control to the kurds. For starters.

markusaa

SAA do not want to fight their friends in ISIS

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The only force who has effectively killed ISIS has been the SAA and not the US considering they attack ISIS prisons and call them meeting places . When the mjority don’t leave the building for 3 days you know its a prison.

G Dean VanGaya

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR)… REALLY!?! You are quoting the SOHR, the one man MI5-CIA propaganda arm who destroyed Syria?!?

Expo Marker

If the Arabs fall out of the SDF, the SDF will no longer have any claim to large parts of territories they have captured. There are lots of Arab majority lands under SDF control, but if the locals reject Kurd rule, there will be more fighting in the future of north-east Syria.

G Dean VanGaya

They don’t have to reject ‘Kurd rule’ because there is no Kurd rule. The YPG hands the local assemblies over to the population… I.e., you have 71 Arabs on the Manbij assembly and only 43 Kurds.

Stephen

and that chaos Zionist America, Israel and their allies wants in the Middle East.

G Dean VanGaya

“Kurdish forces are still the majority involved in Raqqa Operation contrary to what is promoted by the mainstream media and the US-led coalition leadership.” Impressive, the heroes who won’t leave the fight to those who have no revolutionary commitment to direct democracy and co-operative economics… And who have been on the pay roll for the Islamo-fascists forces at one point or another. It seems the YPG/YPJ are the most coherent and organized force in Syria, by far. Turkey will have it’s work cut out for it, i think the metaphor of quicksand for a Turkish army invading is probably apt. The Kurds have probably about 300,000 citizen self-defense forces, all armed, and then 60,000 battle hardened expeditionary forces. That about matches the standing Turkish army, excluding reserves, coast guard, etc.

Daniel Castro

Democracy is a lie, a ideology used to spread western imperial rule.

G Dean VanGaya

Yes, that is usually the truth and this case with the YPJ/YPG and TEV-DEM is totally a freakish event, in that the CIA for once, isn’t backing the right wing psychos, but the revolutionary libertarian socialists setting up peoples’ councils and co-operatives in every town. Learn about what TEV-DEM and the Kurds have started for all of us, just give it some time, you might find it rewarding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB4h6o4UTXM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpzwyahgOcY

G Dean VanGaya

God given heroes of humanity! For all of us.

Daniel Castro

There s no such thing as libertarian socialist, socialists are globalist just as much as the neocon, world government is their objective.

G Dean VanGaya

Well then I will guess you are a Cuban/American, because the term ‘libertarian’ actually started with socialists in Paris in the late 1800s-early 1900. Libertarian capitalist is the new, oxymoron. Castro exiled and killed most of the cuban anarchists right away in after1959

Daniel Castro

Castro isn’t a Cuban name, it is portuguese, I am brazilian.

I’m not in favour of modern rightwing libertarianism, it’s just another tool to destabilize countries, and I also don’t believe about socialist calling themselves libertarians when all of them in fact want totalitarian rule from a central government.

There is a thin line between chaotic anarchy and state totalitarism and no ideology can offer a solution to this problem for all cultures and peoples, trying to force a single ideology worldwide can only bring global totalitarism or perpetual war and chaos.

G Dean VanGaya

Actually, check out Participatory Economics by Chomsky’ protege – Michael Albert. Socialism was never meant to be under a central planning aparatchik.

Daniel Castro

It’s an internationalist movement with centralized leadership since the 19th century, way before Chomsky was born.

YPG lost the central leadership with the fall of Soviet Union, now they’ve found a new one with CIA.

dl nishati bp mh Vodacom nil m

Why are you fighting…….!? Why are you killing your fellow, your brothers, your sisters ,your mothers and your generation? You are blessed with the natural resources like oil and gas…..! So why don’t you put a good governance of your resources……!?

Daniel Castro

Who is killing? I am no syrian.

Solomon Krupacek

ouch, latinamericanos dictatores???

Daniel Castro

Sll I’m saying is each people should decide the form of government they think is best for themselves.

Yes, democracy is working very bad for us in latin america, it’s just plain olygarchy, a free for all of government stealing, nothing else, here in Brazil for instance a lot of people is asking for military intervention, which is allowed in the constitution in cases where the country is under threat by traitors in the government, which is clearly the case.

What is the solution? I don’t know of course, but the thing is we should 1st reestablish order and then start a national debate about a new constitution and a type of government which deals with this culture of corruption which became pathologic in our politicians.

Solomon Krupacek

nice

Stephen

America, Israel and their all allies are all fuckin evils terrorists. They are anti governments and anti nations in the world. They have screwed up entire Middle East./.

G Dean VanGaya

They certainly have.

Bio_ Hazard

if SDF keeps on supporting Saudi presence in Syria i afraid there will be open conflict.
