Russia’s Present Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump may discuss a possible withdrawal of U.S. troops from the US-led coalition base in the town of al-Tanaf near the Syrian-Iraqi border during the upcoming summit, the Syrian Hammurabi’s Justice News blog reported on July 5.

According to the pro-opposition blog, which is well-known for its close ties with the US-led coalition and Free Syrian Army (FSA) commanders in al-Tanaf, the U.S. will demand an Iranian withdrawal from several areas in Syria in exchange for a withdrawal its troops from al-Tanaf and other areas.

Hammurabi’s Justice News clarified that the US Army has no plans to withdraw from al-Tanaf as for now. The blog added that the possible withdraw from the base is a part of the White House agenda.

Putin and Trump are set to meet in the Finish capital of Helsinki on July 16. During the meeting both leaders will discuss the situation in Syria, Ukraine and Iran in details, according to Russian and U.S. sources.

Many local observers believe that Russia and the U.S. may reach a general deal on the future of Syria during the summit.
